This tea is made by the same family that made our 2020 and 1990 Oriental Beauty, third generation of dedicated Dongfang Meiren (東方美人) makers. They fondly call their aged teas “Old Beauty” and we decided to call them the same way. Great skills are required to make good traditional Oriental beauty, but also one needs to know how to store it to age tea well. This one of course is exemplary and very well stored tea.
Tea liquor is very sweet, smooth and thick. Deep aged taste and aroma is bursting with dark, wild honey and floral notes, florals are akin to dried flowers and herbs. In taste there are also traces of fruity and nutty notes followed by intense, sweet wild honey like aftertaste.
As any good aged tea this one comes with powerful Cha Qi, very calming and rooting while clearing the mind and increasing focus.
Even after nearly 40 years of aging this is undoubtedly Oriental Beauty, still full of charm and gracefully changed by time.
