Our GABA 18 comes from famous Sun Moon Lake in YuChi, Taiwan. It’s name is derived from cultivar used, which in this case is Ruby 18, cultivar mostly used in black tea production.
This tea is wonderful marriage of both black tea and GABA Oolong characteristics. Smooth, very thick liquor, is mostly fruity, touches of herbal notes, and combined black tea and GABA character makes this tea very interesting, and hard to describe. Moderate sweetness shines in honey, fruit and floral aroma. Generally warm character of this tea is accentuated by cooling finish. Drinking it is very comforting and calming, but also refreshing. I can see it drinking at any time of the year for different reasons.
GABA oolong is tea that have undergone oxygen free fermentation process that greatly increases content of Gamma Aminobutyric Acid without affecting content of catechin or caffeine. Human body normally produces GABA to bring your nervous system back to a state of calm, improve mood and even relieve anxiety. Recent medical studies are inconclusive as to will ingested GABA pass the blood brain barrier, but in our experience it’s definitely very calming whilst keeping you focused.
