Taiwanese oolong made of an old cultivar known as Huang Shin (黃心) or yellow heart. Many of these tea trees were cut down long time ago because of low profitability and replaced with fruit trees. Some even say that this cultivar is extinct, but don’t quote us on that.
This over 50 years old oolong is beautiful example of tea made and stored with intention of aging. Aroma of dry leaves in warm brewing vessel is very sweet and warm, you can smell age and perfectly clean storage.
Brewed tea is so rich, deep red and brown liquid that is nearly black, smooth and thick and so very sweet. In both taste and aroma you can find antique wood, dark dried fruit, cream, fudge and some nutty notes with a bit of cooling sensation.
This tea is ultimate comfort beverage, complex yet easy to drink and warming in a way hard to explain. Rooting and comforting beyond any tea I’ve ever had. Very unique opportunity to try really aged tea that spent over 50 years patiently and slowly aging in very clean and intentional storage.
