We do love aged teas and are always excited when we find new one to delight in. Taiwanese aged oolongs have became my passion few years ago and I’m always impressed by variety of them we are able to find, often in private stashes of Taiwanese farmers and Tea Masters.
Brewing such tea for the first time is always exciting, finding out what aromas and taste this one will bring to your cup. In case of our 80s NanKang Oolong first whiff of aroma brought to my mind roasted pecans, it’s sweet, warm and nutty. Followed then by notes of dried dates, wood, wild honey, meadow and chocolate. Liquor is smooth, medium to thick and moderately sweet, very nutty, woody, with notes of cacao and prunes.
Lovely relaxing and comforting tea with aroma to die for.
