Wu Liang Shan (無量山) is home to many old tea trees, some are even over 1000 years of age, and that is according to the scientists making measurements. Our first flush PuErh comes from very tall trees ranging from 400 to 500 year old. Locals call those trees "surrounded by mist and clouds" due to their height. Growing in the forest at elevation above 2500m and I can imagine their crowns really being surrounded by clouds.
Distinct appearance of leaves comes from natural occurring mutation and affects taste and aroma of tea. This tea is very unique with it obvious longan fruit notes, it is very fruity and sweet with cooling sensation. It starts with citrusy freshness and touch of lemon sourness and over the session becomes deeper and warmer, allowing green freshness to shine underneath bursting fruit flavor. Liquor is thick and very smooth and its taste lingers very, very long after tea session have finished.
So delicious and refreshing tea, it brings very positive, uplifting feeling and is nicely relaxing.
Material is nicely pressed and removing whole leaves is very easy whilst cakes themselves are firmly holding together. Those come with Nei Fei of factory that have pressed them for us, double wrapped and every outer wrapper comes with exquisite hand calligraphy made by Vicky on special hand made paper created for PuErh.
