2019 Shui Jin Gui (水金龜) translates to golden water turtle, and is one of four famous varietals that define rock oolongs (Si Da Ming Cong). This old cultivar history reaches beyond Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and requires great skill and consideration during processing.
Story says that because leaves grow thickly on the bushes, when wind blows their surface shines in the sun and looks like golden turtle swimming in the water. There are many stories and legends explaining where name of this tea comes from.
There also are many things to love this tea for, it’s milky, chocolate like character with underlying fruity notes, and pine needle like freshness. Strong minerality and rock rhyme / Yan Yun (岩韻), with accompanying it consistent smoothness.
