We always try to support our farmers when they participate in tea competitions. While we are there we look for teas that will bring quality without breaking the bank. It’s hard to find better deal than this tea. Award winning Alishan oolong for a fraction of the price, where’s the catch ? After competition ends then all winning teas are being sold out within hours, customers buy pretty leaves and those that are not looking that great are being kept by farmers for personal consumption. Unless they are willing to sell some of them to friends for fraction of a price that is. Same great material and processing that have won awards but less pretty leaves. We were fortunate enough to get two “Farmers Choice” teas this time. This tea is what have remained of 1st prize winner that have been sold out at competition with several times higher price tag. Brewed tea is absolutely amazing with minimal effect on quality of the brew due to a bit more of broken leaves.
Crystal clear liquid is dominated by sweet, creamy taste and aroma with some green freshness underneath. Smooth with medium body, a touch of minerality and gaolen, this tea is quite coating and lingers in mouth and throat long after drinking.
Very comforting, refreshing and satisfying tea with soothing and slightly stimulating Cha Qi.
