Simply put, Chi Chung (奇種) is the strange one. In nature, we cannot control everything and often very little. The same goes for tea bushes and trees around the Wuyi area. There are of course many cultivars already named but there are still areas where unknown cultivars sprout by the power of nature. These cultivars that are not documented and put in books are Chi Chung or the strange cultivar. This year, our Chi Chung are from Zhu Ker (竹窠), an area very close to the mother bushes. This Chi Chung is a bright and fresh Yancha with a lot of notes from tropical fruits. Chi Chung are not only strange but mysterious, anyone drinking cannot help wonder if for example I taste a QiLan or perhaps an ShuiXian in my Yancha.
